The Ministry of health in Kasenengwa district has urged people to take COVID 19 preventive measures seriously.

ZANIS reports that Kasenengwa District Health Director Dingase Mvula said yesterday that Zambia is threatened by the new COVID 19 variant which has already been recorded in some countries globally and is spreading faster hence, the need for members of the public to take the preventive measures seriously.

Dr Mvula was speaking during the Epidemic Preparedness, Prevention Management and Control (EPPMC) meeting in Kasenengwa District.

She told the meeting that her ministry, working together with other stakeholders, will enhance community screening in the district so as to prevent high community transmission especially that the district had already recorded a cumulative number of four cases of COVID 19.

According to Dr Mvula, out of the four cases that the district has recorded one person has recovered while the other three are still active while a total of 1 739 swabs have been collected.

And District Administrative Officer (DAO) Nelson Banda called for intensified sensitization activities in the district as most people have relaxed as far as complying with COVID 19 preventive measures is concerned.

Mr Banda says that the ministry of health and the local authority should continue checking the compliance levels especially in public places as SI 21 and SI 22 of 2020 are still in effect.
